Sunset Terrace Considers Historic Preservation

The Maple Ridge Neighborhood Association is in the process of determining how many homeowners might be interested in acquiring Historic Preservation Zoning for the Sunset Park Addition. Sunset Park boundaries are 21st street (south side of the street) to 24th Place (north side of the street) and Cincinnati Avenue to Peoria Ave. If you live within this area and are the property owner, you should have received a notice to attend one of the meetings that were scheduled between September 21st and November 11th of 2010. We want everyone to have an opportunity to learn about the zoning from official representatives of the City of Tulsa.

There are five Tulsa neighborhoods that have acquired this overlay zoning since 1988 when the City of Tulsa adopted the Historic Preservation Zoning Ordinance. This protective overlay zoning is available for areas that qualify as an historic district and is beneficial in helping to conserve the character of the area. The North Disrict of the Maple Ridge neighborhood (north of 21 Street) has had this overlay zoning since 1993.
